In case of emergencies in poor countries, we join forces with friends of Shalom Community Services and partner agencies to send any kind of help. Recently, 55 packages of educational supplies were donated to children in need in Honduras. They were distributed through a social services agency that offers aftercare services to children in high-risk areas of Honduras. According to Bless the Children, in Honduras, only 30% of children go to high school, and according to Borgen Magazine, Honduras ranks second in poverty among Central American countries.
By providing educational supplies, we want to encourage children to continue studying and to show the love of God. Although this was our recent project, we have also sent clothes and food assistance to San Andres-Colombia as this island was also affected by Hurricanes Eta and Ioda.
In December 2021, we sent a shipment of clothing and toys to a poor locality in Cali, Colombia to be distributed through a local church in the community.
In January 2022, we sent two donations, one shipment of clothing and toys to Honduras also to be distributed by a local church. Additionally, a monetary donation was sent to Ecuador, where a friend of Shalom Community Services along with a church bought and assembled 20 packages of food and groceries given to the most vulnerable communities on the outsides of Quito, Ecuador.
We are actively looking for new international connections to partner with in our 2023 Projects!
Our emergency assistance is possible by generous donations of our supporters and volunteers. If you are interested in donating to this international project, get in touch with us through the button below.
For the past 5 years we have joined forces with Samaritan’s Purse for its annual Operation Christmas Child campaign. Through this program, thousands of children in different third-world countries receive a shoebox filled with toys, school supplies, clothes, personal hygiene products, and more. Through this project, the children not only receive in many cases their first gift but also receive a word of hope and the opportunity to complete a Christian discipleship course.
We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to members of our supporting agency, Shalom Casa de Oracion, and to all of our current and past volunteers, teachers and students at Renaissance Middle School, and additional members of the community who have contributed to this cause.
We run OCC annually, beginning in September and ending on the third week of November. If you are interested in joining us for this project, get in touch with us through the button below.
